NPFL Summons Disciplinary Panel over Shooting Stars vs Ikorodu City Incident

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board has summoned a disciplinary panel following troubling scenes from the Matchday 32 clash between Shooting Stars and Ikorodu City.

Disturbing images and videos from the match at the Lekan Salami Stadium have surfaced online, prompting swift action from the league authorities.

NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, confirmed that the board will meet on Wednesday to investigate the incident.

“We are not unaware of the unacceptable occurrence and have scheduled a disciplinary meeting to determine appropriate measures to deter a recurrence,” Elegbeleye said.

He emphasized the board's firm stance against misconduct, reiterating the NPFL's zero tolerance for unsporting behaviour.

“The Board will consistently act to stamp out all forms of disreputable behaviours to keep the league free of unsporting engagement before, during, and after games,” he added.
