Kwara United have booked their spot in the Round of 16 of the President Federation Cup 2025 after defeating Gombe United 1-0 at the Lafia Township Stadium in Nasarawa.
The Harmony Boys secured the win courtesy of a well-taken goal by Shola AbdulRaheem in the 55th minute. AbdulRaheem expertly finished a precise cross from Yahaya Ibrahim to give his team the lead.
Despite dominating the first half, Kwara United struggled to convert their chances, with Lewis Dandong, Junior Aimufua, and Wasiu Alalade all missing opportunities to extend the lead.
Gombe United fought hard to find an equalizer, but Kwara United’s defense, led by Jimoh Gbadamosi, held firm to maintain a clean sheet.
Speaking after the match, Coach Tunde Sanni expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance and stated that they would now focus on their upcoming NPFL Matchday 33 clash against Plateau United in Jos on Sunday.
Kwara United will face the winner of the match between Lobi Stars and Solution FC in the Round of 16.
