Yobe Desert Stars FC Strengthens Squad with 10 New Signings for NNL Second Stanza

Yobe Desert Stars FC has bolstered its squad with the acquisition of ten new players ahead of the second half of the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. Among the new signings, two are promising indigenous talents — Sadam Abdullahi Hussaini, popularly known as Sadam Messi, and Muhammad Umar, fondly called Batonde.

Sadam Messi, who previously played for Total Pillars and Potiskum Academy FC, hails from Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA). Meanwhile, Batonde, a product of the Yobe Desert Stars FC U15 team, comes from Damaturu LGA. Both players earned their promotion to the senior squad following impressive displays during the Northeast Zonal Sports Elimination at the August 27th Stadium in Damaturu.

The club’s decision to promote these homegrown players reflects its commitment to nurturing local talent while strengthening the squad with youthful energy. The duo's familiarity with the regional football landscape is expected to boost the team's chemistry on the pitch.

Earlier in the season, Yobe Desert Stars FC made a statement in the transfer market by signing 17 players, including experienced names like Oladosu and Amos Karami, both from NAF FC, Abuja. This strategic recruitment played a pivotal role in the team's success at the NFF President Pre-Season Tournament in Kaduna.

During the pre-season tournament, Yobe Desert Stars emerged victorious, lifting the trophy after defeating notable clubs like Kada FC and Gombe United. The impressive performance further cemented their status as strong contenders in the NNL.

With the latest signings, Yobe Desert Stars FC aims to build on their momentum as they prepare for the crucial second stanza of the season. The squad's depth and improved balance are expected to give them an edge in their quest for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The club's management expressed confidence that the addition of these ten players will address key tactical needs. The presence of youthful talents like Sadam Messi and Batonde alongside experienced players is seen as a blend that will enhance the squad’s overall performance.

Currently leading their NNL group, Yobe Desert Stars FC’s ambitions are clear — to maintain their position at the top and secure promotion to Nigeria's top-flight league. The club’s supporters are optimistic that the new signings will further solidify the team's dominance.

As the second stanza of the season approaches, all eyes will be on Yobe Desert Stars FC to see how their strengthened squad performs in the race for NPFL qualification. With both experience and youthful vigor now present in their ranks, the Desert Stars appear well-equipped for the challenges ahead.

Fans will be eager to witness the impact of the new signings, especially the homegrown stars, as Yobe Desert Stars FC continues its impressive journey in the 2024/2025 NNL campaign.
