Wikki Tourists FC Chairman, Engr. Auwal Gotal, has reiterated the club's commitment to prioritizing the welfare of players and staff as they push for promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, on Monday, March 17, 2025, Gotal emphasized that the club’s management remains dedicated to ensuring the well-being of everyone involved with the team.
"I can assure you that the management continues to place a high priority on the well-being of the players and staff, and we take it seriously," Gotal affirmed. He revealed that all match bonuses had been paid, while salaries were disbursed promptly and consistently to maintain morale within the squad.
Addressing the club’s financial stability, Gotal disclosed that Wikki Tourists are in advanced talks with two businesses regarding a potential sponsorship deal. He expressed optimism that the partnership would soon be finalized, providing additional resources to support the team’s needs.
The Chairman acknowledged that the sponsorship deal would significantly boost team morale, ensuring players remain motivated as they continue their push for NPFL promotion. He credited the club’s strong start in the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) as proof of their dedication.
Wikki Tourists currently sit atop the Northern Conference C standings, having amassed 13 points from six matches. Their impressive run includes four victories, one draw, and a single defeat. Gotal believes this form reflects the club’s hard work and determination to return to top-flight football.
To strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season, Gotal confirmed that Wikki Tourists recently recruited new players following the departure of key forward Damala to Katsina United FC and the absence of two other players who are currently representing Nigeria’s U-20 national team.
Gotal praised Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Muhammad, for his unwavering support, which has played a vital role in stabilizing the club and ensuring players' needs are met. He commended the governor’s commitment to sports development in the state.
As Wikki Tourists aim to secure promotion, Gotal called on the club’s supporters to remain patient, offer prayers, and continue backing the team. He assured fans that the club’s management is working tirelessly to achieve their goal of returning to the NPFL next season.
With their strong performances and renewed focus on player welfare, Wikki Tourists appear well-positioned to reclaim their place among Nigeria’s elite football clubs.
