The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has demonstrated his commitment to grassroots football by donating a brand new Hummer bus and covering the registration fees for 52 Kano-based clubs participating in the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).
The gesture was made following a request from Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim, Chairman of the Nigeria Nationwide League One Kano Football Clubs Forum, during a courtesy visit to the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Senator Barau, who is also the founder of Barau Football Club, extended his support by donating ₦3,000,000 for the welfare of all club representatives present at the event.
Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, Chairman of Barau FC, and board member Alhaji Abdul AP were in Abuja to witness the significant gesture. Speaking on behalf of the club, Ambassador Chanji praised Senator Barau Jibrin for his unwavering support of football development in Kano and the nation as a whole.
The donation of the Hummer bus and financial support marks a major boost for the Kano NLO clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
