Remo Stars Face Goalkeeper Crisis Ahead of Lobi Clash

Remo Stars could face a major setback in their Matchday 30 fixture against Lobi Stars on March 23, as both of their goalkeepers, Kayode Bankole and Adebiyi Serges Obassa, have been called up for international duty.

Bankole has been named in Nigeria’s 39-man provisional squad by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, while Benin Republic's head coach, Gernot Rohr, included Obassa in his 25-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. If Bankole makes the final list, Remo Stars may be left without a senior goalkeeper for their crucial NPFL clash.

The international fixtures will see Nigeria play Rwanda away on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe two days later. Meanwhile, Benin Republic will be away to Zimbabwe on March 21 and will then host South Africa in Cote d’Ivoire on March 23—the same day Remo Stars face Lobi Stars.

With Remo Stars currently among the NPFL title contenders, missing both goalkeepers could be a significant challenge in their push for league glory.
