Papa Daniel Reflects on Super Eagles Call-Up: "I Was Shocked"

Niger Tornadoes FC midfielder, Papa Daniel, has expressed his excitement and surprise after earning his first-ever call-up to the Super Eagles squad.

Speaking to NFF media, Daniel revealed that he never anticipated the invitation.

"I never expected it. I was just doing my thing, and I don't even know... When I saw the provisional list, I was shocked. I was like, 'Oh, okay,' and when I saw the final list, I was like, 'Whoa!' I was very, very happy. Thanks to God because it's not easy for me to be here."

Reflecting on his experience in camp so far, Daniel praised the warm reception from the team’s senior players.

"Seeing the big boys in camp, and it being my first time in the Super Eagles, I am very, very happy. Seeing them around is a motivation for me to do more, to show them what I have, and to be humble."

He further highlighted how supportive the team has been toward home-based players.

"The atmosphere is friendly, they are all friendly. They encourage us, the home-based players. We never felt like we were not among them."

With optimism about the team's potential, Daniel expressed his belief in the squad’s capabilities.

"I know we have everything—we have the qualities of players who can compete. I just pray for luck."

The talented midfielder will be hoping to make his mark as the Super Eagles continue their preparations for upcoming fixtures.
