Shooting Stars' Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, has reaffirmed his team's determination to fight for a continental ticket despite their recent struggles in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Oluyole Warriors slipped to sixth on the league table following a 2-0 defeat to Akwa United on matchday 29, extending their winless run to seven games.
Addressing concerns about their fading chances of securing a top-three finish, Ogunbote insisted his side would not give up.
"We have nine matches to decide that," Ogunbote stated. "We've gone seven games without a win, but it could happen to any team. When we start picking points again, maybe some other teams will struggle. We'll fight till the end."
Reflecting on the recent loss to Akwa United, the experienced tactician, popularly known as 'The Oracle,' described the defeat as unfortunate.
"We did everything possible, but we were careless at some moments. The result wasn't a true reflection of the game, but we lost — that's football," Ogunbote said.
The 3SC coach added that his focus now is on correcting the team's mistakes to get back to winning ways.
"All we need to do is return home, identify our errors, and ensure we bounce back stronger," he concluded.
With nine games remaining, Shooting Stars are still in the race for a coveted continental slot, and Ogunbote is determined to steer his team back on track.
