Abia Warriors captain, Augustine Njoku, has returned to training following a hamstring injury sustained during their Matchday 25 clash against Enugu Rangers.
The former Nigeria U-20 international was seen working separately from the main squad as he focused on regaining full fitness. Speaking to the club’s media, Njoku expressed his gratitude for a swift recovery.
“I feel very good, you know being out of the team for some weeks now, coming back to training, I feel very, very good and I’m happy for that,” Njoku said. “I’m not feeling any pain in the hamstring anymore, so, it’s a good one. I really thank God for having recovered so quickly, I can say all glory to God Almighty.”
Njoku is optimistic about Abia Warriors' upcoming league fixture against Bendel Insurance, confident they can secure maximum points.
“Bendel Insurance has improved lately, and we got the maximum points at their home in Benin in the first round. I know they must be coming with everything to get a point here in Umuahia, but I believe we’re going to make a return to victory again starting with the game on Sunday,” he added.
The Warriors' skipper praised the efforts of Coach Imama Amapakabo and his technical crew, noting their intense training sessions since his return.
“…seeing the training since I came back, the coaches have been trying their best, trying to put us in shape, and I believe, come Sunday, God being on our side, we will get the maximum points,” Njoku said.
He added, “From the work I’ve seen our coaches and players put in this week, I believe Abia Warriors are returning to winning ways, and that’s for sure.”
