Heartland Queens' assistant coach and Super Falcons legend, Stella Mbachu, will join an elite group of football icons and top dignitaries for the groundbreaking ceremony of the NFF-FIFA Players' Hostel at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The 68-room facility, situated in Package B of the stadium and directly opposite the NFF Secretariat, will feature 62 single rooms, four suites, and two executive suites. The project also includes the construction of two training pitches — one synthetic and one natural grass — along with the reconstruction of the existing synthetic pitch.
To enhance the fan experience, the facility will include sitting terraces for 1,838 spectators, two dressing rooms for players (each accommodating 27 players), and two dressing rooms for officials.
Mbachu, a celebrated Olympian known as "Kid Dynamite" during her Super Falcons career, will share the spotlight with another female football legend, former Nigerian goalkeeper Precious Dede.
The event will also feature eight prominent male football icons: Segun Odegbami, Austin 'Jay-Jay' Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, Nwankwo Kanu, Mutiu Adepoju, Samson Siasia, Victor Ikpeba, and Ahmed Musa.
High-profile dignitaries expected at the event include Senate and House of Representatives sports chairmen, NOC president Engr. Habu Gumel, former Sports Ministers Sunday Dare and John Enoh, and Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade. Former NFF president Sani Lulu Abdullahi, alongside past NFF Secretaries Ambassador Fanny Amun and Barr. Musa Amadu, will also be in attendance.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, will perform the groundbreaking ceremony. Special guests include Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa, the Ambassadors of the UAE and Morocco, former Edo State Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu, Inspector General of Police Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nanna Nandap, and National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko.
This landmark event is another significant achievement under the leadership of NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
