In a show of solidarity and support, the Board and Management of Lobi Stars FC paid a heartfelt condolence visit to their Media Director, Mr. Emmanuel Uja, following the passing of his beloved mother. The visit, which took place on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Mr. Uja’s residence in Makurdi, was a moment of deep reflection and shared grief.
Leading the delegation was the club’s Chairman, Dr. Philip Nongu, who was accompanied by the club’s Secretary, Dr. Iorngulum Malu. Dr. Malu also represented the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, Dr. Paul Edeh, Esq. Other notable officials present included Board member Francis Ejiga, Team Manager Lawrence Adoga, and Assistant FA Secretary Cephas Tse, among others.
Dr. Nongu, speaking on behalf of Lobi Stars FC, expressed the profound sadness the club felt upon receiving the news of Mr. Uja’s mother’s passing. He acknowledged the irreplaceable nature of a mother’s love and the immense pain of losing such a cherished figure. Encouraging Mr. Uja to take solace in God’s wisdom, he reminded him that life and death remain within divine control. As a token of the club’s sympathy, a condolence letter was formally presented.
Adding to the words of comfort, Dr. Malu, in his dual role as club Secretary and State FA Secretary, extended further condolences. He presented a condolence letter from the Benue State FA, emphasizing the importance of seeking strength in God during times of grief.
Board member Francis Ejiga also reassured Mr. Uja that even in the face of loss, faith must remain steadfast. He reminded him that though the pain of losing a loved one is overwhelming, God remains a source of unending comfort and grace.
In an emotional response, Mr. Uja expressed his deep gratitude for the visit and the support shown by the club. He described his late mother as a pillar of strength who had been both a father and mother to him since his father’s early demise. His words painted a picture of a woman whose sacrifices and love had shaped his life.
Recalling their journey, Mr. Uja shared how he had moved his mother from Ayilamo in Logo Local Government to Makurdi due to the escalating Fulani herders’ crisis. His decision had been driven by the need to ensure her safety, a responsibility he had undertaken with great devotion. While her passing was a heavy loss, he found comfort in knowing that she had embraced Christ before her final breath.
Amidst his grief, Mr. Uja expressed profound appreciation for the support of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. He acknowledged the governor’s role in providing security arrangements through his Security Adviser, ensuring that his mother’s burial would be conducted with dignity and respect.
As the visit came to an end, the atmosphere was filled with both sorrow and gratitude. The presence of the Lobi Stars FC family stood as a reminder that in difficult moments, no one should bear the weight of grief alone. Their visit underscored the deep bonds of camaraderie that extend beyond football.
Lobi Stars FC, through this gesture, reaffirmed its commitment to standing by its own in times of need, proving once again that football is more than just a game—it is a family.
