Shooting Stars' Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, has admitted that Heartland’s tactical approach played a crucial role in their victory over his team in Sunday’s NPFL clash.
The Oluyole Warriors suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Naze Millionaires, with Ogunbote acknowledging that Heartland’s strategy disrupted 3SC’s usual style of play.
Speaking after the match, the experienced coach praised the opposition for their well-executed game plan, which made it difficult for his players to settle into the game.
"I think it wasn't a bad game. They have a good side with a good coach, and their tactics worked for them," Ogunbote stated.
He further explained how Heartland applied constant pressure throughout the game, preventing Shooting Stars from controlling possession or dictating the tempo.
"If you watch from the beginning to the end, they didn’t give us any rest moment and didn’t allow us to settle down to play," he added.
Despite the loss, Ogunbote remains optimistic and has quickly shifted focus to their upcoming midweek fixture against Lobi Stars.
The Oluyole Warriors will be desperate to return to winning ways after back-to-back losses to Kwara United and Heartland FC.
A victory against Lobi Stars on Wednesday is crucial for 3SC to maintain their position on the league table and regain momentum.
With the team eager to bounce back, all eyes will be on their next performance as they aim to recover from recent setbacks.
