Sokoto United FC clinched a commanding 3-1 victory against Zamfara United FC in a gripping Match Day 4 fixture of the Nigerian National League (NNL) at the Giginya Memorial Stadium. The match showcased a tactical masterclass by Sokoto United's Technical Adviser, Peter Ajeni, whose well-timed substitutions turned the game in their favor.
The Caliphate Boys struck early, with James Igboyi Joseph finding the net in the 5th minute after a precise assist from Ishaku Jibrin. However, Zamfara United responded in the 46th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick to level the scores at 1-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Coach Ajeni’s tactical brilliance came to the fore. Substitutes Yusuf Fantami and Ime Clement energized Sokoto United’s attack, creating relentless pressure on Zamfara United's defense. This intensity paid off in the 84th minute when Ishaku Jibrin capitalized on a free kick to reclaim the lead for Sokoto United.
