The Nigeria National League (NNL) has suspended two referees, Ese Williams and Muritala Folahan, from the list of match officials scheduled for appointments.
Williams, the Referee for the Week 5 game between Crown FC of Ogbomosho and Dakkada FC of Uyo, along with Folahan, who served as Assistant Referee 2, has been sidelined indefinitely following incidents in their match.
A statement dated January 22, 2025, and signed by Ameenu Mohammed on behalf of the NFF Referees Committee Chairman, confirmed the decision. According to the statement, the officials' actions during the match were inconsistent with the Laws of the Game.
The NFF Referees Committee emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the game or refereeing.
