El-Kanemi Warriors FC, a Nigerian football club, ended the 2005 season in the lower half of the Nigeria Premier League and were relegated to the Nigeria Division 1 in 2007. After five seasons in the second tier, the club made a successful return to the top flight in 2012. However, in 2014, due to the Boko Haram insurgency, they were forced to relocate their home games to Kano for safety reasons.
Between 2015 and 2016, El-Kanemi Warriors temporarily played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina before eventually returning to their home ground, El-Kanemi Stadium, in Maiduguri. In October 2017, the club brought in former Enugu Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo on a one-year deal in a bid to strengthen their squad and coaching staff.
In June 2024, El-Kanemi Warriors earned promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League. That same year, they capped off their return with a remarkable achievement by winning the Federation Cup, defeating Abia Warriors 2–0 in the final held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. This victory marked a significant milestone in the club's recent history.
