Samson Siasia, the former Super Eagles striker and coach, has confirmed his interest from Mighty Jets FC of Jos following the conclusion of his FIFA-imposed ban. Siasia, whose original lifetime ban from football was successfully challenged in court and reduced to five years, is now looking to return to the sport with renewed vigor.
In a recent press conference held in Abuja, Siasia expressed his deep gratitude to the numerous individuals and organizations that supported him throughout his challenging period. Notable among them were Chief Segun Odegbami, Governor Douye Diri, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, and the Abuja All Stars, among others.
Siasia shared, "Five years have come and gone, and now it's time to hit the ground running. I’m ready to start anew. I’ve received a few offers, including some from abroad, but nothing concrete has materialized yet." He went on to disclose that he had recent discussions with Ferdinand Mbum, General Manager of Mighty Jets FC, and had visited Plateau State to observe a preseason tournament. Although he was scheduled to meet with the governor of the state, unforeseen circumstances led to the meeting being postponed as the governor was in Abuja at the time.
Siasia took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt thanks to those who stood by him. Chief Segun Odegbami, he noted, was instrumental in providing support during his ordeal, being among the first to reach out and offer help. Additionally, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Minister Nyesom Wike offered both financial and emotional support, which Siasia described as invaluable.
As Siasia prepares to embark on this new chapter, his focus is set on making a significant impact in the football arena once again, starting with his potential role at Mighty Jets FC.
