As Rangers International F.C. of Enugu prepares for their crucial CAF Champions League preliminary rounds, they have received a significant morale boost from the Akwa Ibom State Football Association. The executive team of the Akwa Ibom FA, led by Chairman Samuel Umoh, paid a visit to the ‘Flying Antelopes’ at their camp in Uyo, ahead of their two-legged clash against Comoros Island's U.S. Zilimadjou.
The visit, which included Kufre Etukudoh, the scribe of the football house, and board member Tony Kelvin, was organized to offer support and encouragement to the Rangers squad. Umoh addressed the team, emphasizing the importance of their upcoming matches and the role they play in representing not just their club but the entire nation.
“We are here on behalf of the football family of Akwa Ibom State to encourage you to represent the country well in the CAF Champions League,” Umoh stated. “Remember, you are the champions of Nigeria, and we want you to play like true champions when you face your opponents from the Comoros Islands. Count on our full support in the matches you will be playing here.”
Umoh also reassured the team of the strong home support they would receive. “Uyo is your home, and you will not lack home support. While playing on the pitch, you are not only playing for Rangers, Enugu State, yourselves, or your family, but for the entire country of Nigeria. We urge you to be good ambassadors, and we look forward to celebrating with you after the matches.”
Captain Ugwueze Chinemerem responded with gratitude, acknowledging the importance of the visit and the support provided. He assured the Akwa Ibom FA officials that he and his teammates are fully aware of the significance of their task and are committed to delivering strong performances. “We understand the big task ahead of us and promise not to disappoint the millions of football followers in the country,” Chinemerem said, expressing confidence in advancing to the next round of the competition.
The visit concluded with the Akwa Ibom FA officials presenting packs of bottled water to the Rangers team, further underscoring their commitment to supporting the squad throughout their continental campaign.
