Bendel Insurance Football Club has officially confirmed its participation in the Governor Douye Diri Preseason Football Tournament, a key preparatory event set to unfold in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. In a formal letter addressed to the tournament organizers and signed by the club’s secretary, Charles Ihimekpen, Bendel Insurance expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming preseason tournament. The letter, dated August 6, 2024, highlights the club's readiness to engage in this competitive event, which is scheduled to run from August 12 to August 18, 2024, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
The Governor Diri Preseason Tournament features eight teams, including notable clubs such as Kwara United, Sunshine Stars, Warri Wolves, Akwa United, Bayelsa United, Rivers United, and Abia Warriors, alongside the 2023 Bayelsa State Federation champions Krusaders Feeders FC. This diverse field presents a valuable opportunity for Bendel Insurance to assess their squad’s cohesion and readiness.
Charles Ihimekpen emphasized the significance of the tournament for Bendel Insurance, stating, “We view this eight-team tournament as an ideal platform to test and integrate our old and new players in preparation for the upcoming season. Given the caliber of the top-flight clubs involved, it provides us with a crucial benchmark.”
