ABS FC to Compete in Nigeria National League Next Season - Bashir

Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club (ABS FC) is set to return to the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the 2024/2025 season, according to recent statements by the club’s Coordinator, Jimoh Bashir. This announcement comes after a challenging season in which the team, along with 12 other clubs, faced relegation to the Nigeria League One (NLO) due to what was described as environmental factors affecting their performance.

Despite the setbacks of the previous season, ABS FC has managed to regain its place in the NNL, reaffirming its commitment to competing at a higher level. Bashir addressed accredited volunteers in Ilorin during the North Central leg of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Players' Talent Hunt and Development Programme. He emphasized the club’s focus on retaining its professional status and enhancing its competitive edge for the upcoming season.

The talent hunt initiative is a strategic effort aimed at achieving multiple objectives. These include discovering new talents for European football markets, strengthening the ABS FC U-19 Youth Team, and bolstering the main squad. This multifaceted approach underscores the club’s dedication to nurturing talent and maintaining a strong presence in both local and international football arenas.

Starting from September, the ABS FC U-19 team will compete in the N-Youth League Cup, a prestigious youth competition designed to offer a high level of football experience and competition for players aged 16-19. This involvement in the N-Youth League Cup represents a crucial step in the club’s broader development strategy, aimed at providing young players with the exposure and experience needed to advance their careers.

The ABS FC Players' Talent Hunt and Development Programme is being conducted in collaboration with international partners, with Shogo Shodunke serving as the Consultant. This partnership is expected to enhance the program's effectiveness and open new avenues for talent development.

Bashir also highlighted ongoing preparations for the new season, including the imminent appointment of new coaching staff. He expressed gratitude to the club’s leadership, including Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Chairman Seni Saraki, and Director of Football Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, for their continued support and for providing the team with another opportunity to excel in the NNL.

The upcoming season promises to be a pivotal one for ABS FC as it seeks to build on its past experiences and capitalize on new opportunities. With a clear focus on talent development and strategic planning, the club is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the NNL and beyond.
