The Nigeria National League (NNL) board has confirmed the relegation of 12 clubs to the National League One (NLO) and the promotion of four clubs to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
Relegated Clubs
- The 12 clubs relegated to the NLO are:
- Stormers FC, Abeokuta (Conference A)
- Ekiti United FC of Ado Ekiti (Conference A)
- 1472 FC of Lagos (Conference A)
- FC One Rocket of Uyo (Conference B)
- Giant Brillars FC of Enugu (Conference B)
- Trade Safe FC of Lagos (Conference B)
- NAF FC of Abuja (Conference C)
- ABS FC of Ilorin (Conference C)
- EFCC FC of Abuja (Conference C)
- Mailantarki Care FC of Abuja (Conference D)
- Jigawa Golden Stars of Dutse (Conference D)
- City FC of Abuja (Conference D)
Promoted Clubs
The four clubs promoted to the NPFL are:
- Nasarawa United
- Elkanemi Warriors
- Beyond Limits
- Ikorodu City FC
Beyond Limits emerged victorious in the NNL Super Eight Championships game held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu.
NNL Chairman's Statement
George Aluo, chairman of the NNL, confirmed the promotion and relegation of the clubs, stating that the board has notified the NFF and is preparing for its Annual General Meeting (AGM). Aluo expressed satisfaction with the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season and promised improved performance in the upcoming season.
"The 2023/2024 NNL season ended with giant strides recorded by the board. We have formally notified the NFF of the promotion and relegation of the various clubs that gallantly participated in the league last season. Our next program is the Annual General Meeting of the board and clubs, where we will receive the four clubs that dropped from the NPFL and the eight that got promotion from the NLO.
"We are set and have promised Nigerians that we will improve on our last season's performance," said George Aluo.
The NNL has received the list of promoted clubs from the NLO and those demoted from the NPFL, which will participate in the 2024/2025 NNL season. The AGM will formally receive these clubs, and the new season is expected to be competitive, with the NNL having raised its standards and propelled participating clubs to become giant killers in Nigerian football.
