Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper in AFCON 2023, revealed why he yelled at Alex Iwobi during the quarterfinal against Angola.
Nigeria defeated Palancas Negras 1-0, securing a spot in the semifinals with Ademola Lookman's goal. In the 59th minute, Nwabali was seen passionately shouting at Fulham star, Alex Iwobi.
Right after the Angolans nearly scored through Zini, Iwobi made some mistakes in midfield, resulting in the Angola counter-attack. Nwabali shared with reporters in the mixed zone while he shouted at the 27-year-old.
“It’s a team game, so everyone needs to switch on; it doesn’t matter, so maybe it was our strategy at that moment. I don’t feel like anything happened, so it’s okay.
“You can see we’ve kept four clean sheets and conceded one goal; the guys are good. Our understanding is getting better as the game goes on. We keep understanding each other," said Stanley Nwabali.
